Senior Process Engineer - Advanced Polymer Extrusion Solutions

Optinova Group's products add value in everyday activities, some of them even save lives every day. They are used in thousands of products such as pacemakers, injection needles, insulin pumps and dialysis catheters, but also in coffee machines, fire-extinguishing systems, heat exchangers, brake cables and broadbands.

The Optinova Innovation Center is the hub where we develop our business from a technical perspective. Our cross functional teams consist of process-, polymer-, design- and automation engineers and work closely with internal or external customers, solving the opportunity at hand taking into consideration commercial-, compliance- and technical boundaries.

We are now looking for a Senior Process Engineer within advanced polymer extrusion solutions, to be located on Åland, Finland, or in Uppsala, Sweden.

We are looking for an open communicator and team player with in-depth experience of polymeric extrusion and a scientific approach to developing and improving various use cases.

To succeed in this role, you need to have the following:

- Education in polymer-, process- or mechanical engineering

- Documented success in developing advanced polymer extrusion process solutions

- The ability to bring a commercial and a compliance (e.g. ISO 13485, IATF 16949) perspective into these projects

- A scientific approach, data usage for gaining and proving insights as well as a structured documentation style

- Have an open and coaching attitude towards colleagues and customers globally. You will work with people from different cultures and in various roles - from in house extrusion operators to our customers' R&D engineers to commercial managers.

- Ability to run technical projects or part of projects

- Fluent English skills

We'd also appreciate if you to have some of the following knowledge and experiences

- Fluoropolymer extrusion

- Melt rheology and the understanding of how that makes us understand the process and related equipment better

- Process simulation as a tool for development of extrusion processes

- Development of test methods for understanding tubing properties and performance

- Solutions selling to a wide range of people, from supply chain managers to production engineers.

- Digital solutions to bring more value to the development process, operators or the customer, e.g. AI / machine learning, HMI design

Apllication area expertise from either medical device or other advanced tubing areas.
